2021 Annual Pilgramage

October 2, 2021

Good Evening,

The Annual Point Lookout Memorial Service will take place at Confederate Memorial Park next Saturday, Oct. 9th.

When you arrive at Confederate Memorial Park, Handicap parking will be at the Front entrance of CMP, everyone else will come in the back entrance and park in the field along the woods line.

Descendants: please reserve a seat at Confederate Memorial Park and walk over to the Confederate Cemetery if you are able. You will be handed a Carnation to place on the remains at the cemetery after a prayer. You will then follow the Color Guard into CMP to start the Memorial Service.

Everyone is invited for Lunch, please reply so we have some kind of headcount? Lunch will be served immediately after the Memorial Service. The Descendants meeting will begin approximately at 1pm.

Everyone is welcome to either Camp out in tents or stay at Confederate Memorial Park if you have a Self-Contained RV.

Also, we were forwarded an email.

Tracy Clary from the Old Brunswick Camp SCV #512 will be given the "Greetings from the Descendants" at The Point Lookout Memorial Service. The Old Brunswick Camp SCV #512 needs your help. Brunswick County, Virginia had over 100 Soldiers that were imprisoned at Point Lookout. We need to keep their history alive. Please help The Old Brunswick Camp.

We would love for everyone to attend The Annual Point Lookout Memorial Service however, we know many of you will be supporting us at a distance as we honor our Ancestors that perished or survived the atrocities of Point Lookout Prison Camp.

Always For Their Memory,

Jim and Christina Dunbar

Chairmen Confederate Memorial Park Inc.

Friends of The Old Brunswick Camp,

For those of you who are on Facebook, you've probably already seen the firestorm on there about the OBC and the Taste of Brunswick Festival.   On Wednesday I received a call from the festival committee and was told that a vote was taken and that The Old Brunswick Camp was no longer welcome at this event.  We would not be allowed to set up our living history encampment or have our SCV booth where we handed out historical material.   I am hereby asking each of you as dedicated members of The Old Brunswick Camp to go to your facebook page and share this with everyone you know.   If you don't have facebook, then tell all your friends.   These despicable people need to hear the disgust of the people over this discriminatory and repulsive act.
